Life O’ The Party Gears Up For The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

At Life O’ the Party, we love taking part in celebrations of all kinds, from Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to store openings to birthday parties and more. One event that we look forward to participating in every year is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. While everyone is familiar with the annual tradition, many may not know there are all sorts of events taking place this month leading up to the big parade. We started collaborating with the Macy’s Special Events Department way back in 2003, so this is the 13^th year we have had the pleasure of taking part in this unforgettable parade. We start off by delivering balloons to Citifield, where Balloonfest is held. This occasion serves as a training period for both staff and volunteers who are in charge of holding the floats while marching down the parade route. Next, on November 14^th, Clown U. takes place at Lincoln Center in the Big Apple Circus tents. Afterwards, there will be a Studio Day, where the media comes in to check out the new floats, located at Macy’s new warehouse facility in Moonachie.

The day before the parade, our staff lines Columbus Avenue, (which is located right behind the famous Museum of Natural History), with thousands of balloons that are going to be given away for Inflation Day. That afternoon, the large floats will be inflated all around the museum. At midnight on Thanksgiving morning, we will begin decorating the parade route along Central Park West and will place thousands of balloons along the starting line by the museum too. We will finish the preparations at Macy’s Herald Square location before 5 AM, decorating the restaurant Stella 34, for the famous “Stella Breakfast.”
