Behind the Scenes at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with Life O’ the Party

At Life O’ the Party we love making celebrations extra special with our unique and exciting balloon creations. One event we look forward to participating in annually is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For the last thirteen years we have thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with the famous brand and look forward to continuing this collaboration for years to come. If you want a behind the scenes tour of our various involvements with the Macy’s Parade, read on for the full scoop.

Each year, thousands of Life O’ The Party balloons are used for the famous parade. We custom imprint each and every one of the latex balloons that are on display for the big event. While many people assume the parade is a one-day celebration, there is actually a month of events leading up to the big day, featuring stops at venues like the Big Apple Circus for something known as Clown University. At Citifield, participants enjoy BalloonFest, where volunteers learn how to walk with the large floats. Studio Day takes place at Macy’s gorgeous new parade warehouse, where they actually construct the floats and introduce them to the media. At Macy’s Herald Square store, there is a Breakfast with Santa event, as well as Breakfast at Stella 34 at that location, too. Lastly, Inflation Day takes place in the afternoon of Thanksgiving Eve,  as we drop off thousands of balloons on Columbus Avenue behind The Museum of Natural History, where they can be given away as people watch the floats being inflated.

Here are two videos of the behind the scenes action:

Check out the gorgeous balloon bouquets on display at the park! So colorful and bright dresses. Here you can see the balloons being unloaded from the trucks as we ready ourselves for Inflation Day!

In this video, you can see another view of the balloons attached to fences by the parade’s starting line, as we gear up for the 2015 Thanksgiving celebrations. Make sure to catch Snoopy at the very end!
